I’m guessing iconel is stronger  But for home use Nylon is clearly up there.

I’m seriously impressed with this 645 and can totally understand why it says ‘industrial’ line on the reel now…but yeah, iconcel will be stronger

Yep, 645 should dye just like any other nylon copolymer with an acid dye.

As for the stringing and blobbing you have, the best solution I’ve found is absolutely no retraction (even with a bowden extruder) and speed. Lots of speed.

Molten nylon seems to be very liquid, and retraction does nothing to stop the hot plastic from flowing out through the nozzle. So, after considerable experimentation, I found that disabling retraction (even on layer changes) and turning non-print move speed up as high as your printer can reliably handle (mine seems ok up to about 300mm/s). You can still get occasional stringing that way, but it’s waaaaaay less, and works best of anything I’ve tried.

Wow, I think it would have taken me a lot of testing to come to that conclusion, thanks I will give it a try! I was going in completely the other direction!
