Raster changes from LW3 to LW4.
Running windows 10-64 bit. with C3d upgrade (When it works)
When I was test running the C3D and experiencing some differences between LW3 &4.
When setting up a test raster job imported SVG from inkscape, in LW3 it sets about the raster only around the paths that needed the raster. See pics below.

Any pointers of what I may be doing wrong please?
pic 1 is actual SVG, second one is LW3 and third one is LW4, only took pic of part of the Gcode raster operation.

I know LW4 uses a rewritten raster module. It does not do things the same. It might not be as optimized for raster than LW3 was. I think LW3 optimization may have ben the same as in LW1 for raster images. That is all I can say on the matter since I have not help with LW lately.

I’ve not really played with LW4 but anything a have opened to raster had that red block over the whole thing and I’m not sure if i should start the job or not. LW3 works for me until i get more time to play.

Doing a raster on LW3 does it optimized, the LW4 doesn’t, that covers the whole “red” area.

Then the red must be the laser path.

Why is there a faded X in your source image? I had to wonder why LW3 was not hugging the heart and then I zoomed in and noticed the X.

On LW4, is Trim Pixels on?

+Peter van der Walt thank you, I really need the time to sit down and play. I haven’t checked but has the OSX install been updated since last week? I’m not sure if my pc has a communication problem that even LW4 cant help with.

+Peter van der Walt Thank you Peter. I have tried several raster sessions and every G-code move regardless of the image its been over the whole area rather than what Lw3 does and only covers the job area. I have deselected “trim pixels” and Lw4 still does the whole area. Not just the job area. if that makes sense.

+Peter van der Walt I will do Peter, when I get the house to myself again enough to make sure that the C3D will run long enough to trial running a raster job.

@NathanielStenzel Hi, yes trim pixels on and burn white off.

@E_Caswell actually @Todd_Fleming was the one who asked that.

Just deactivate ‘burn white’ and activate ‘trim pixels’ if you don’t want to scan over the whole picture. The red box (actually red lines) only show the scan path, not the burn path.

@cprezzi thanks, however that is what I had done.

Maybe the white parts of the image aren’t white enough for it to detect as space

+Peter van der Walt Thank you Peter, After loads of trials with my own created files I had the same problem. I could not get it to follow the optimised route with even when the burn white was off. I was still having an alarm coming up on start up of Lw4 as well. See 1st pic, I then downloaded the latest version and all now all working correctly. Not sure why it was a problem but see pic 2 below. now LW4 working. just need to get C3D upgrade to work with some stability now.

LW4 raster pic. Thankyou for all the comments and feeed-back.

+Peter van der Walt I was aware of that Peter, however there was none running (Lw3 or Lw4) at anytime when trying to get Lw4 to start. Since installing the new download I have not had that problem, yet doing nothing different. Once I get more confidence I will look through the beer fund. I have donated to provideders before on the communities. Once I can get C3D working reliably and confident that I can use Lw4 I will certainly give to a worthy cause.

+Peter van der Walt yes Peter, it did it even from reboot of the machine on a daily basis as it’s shutdown every night when I put it to bed… :slightly_smiling_face: Only resolved once I installed latest version
