Recently it came to my attention that there exists an all-in-one motor solution for all my needs. A brushless DC motor with a controller. Aka servo motor, integrated servo motor,…

I try to get more information about these motors but I am having problems because the nomenclature is sprinkled with trade names.

What am I looking for? What material would you recommend I look into for these golden grail of motor that has awesome timing, good torque, great reproducibility…?

you might try this servodrive-maker website http://granitedevices.com/
the founder/CEO hangs around diy-cnc forums so you might get some comments from him if you need specific details on the drives

@Dat_Chu did you mean clearpath? http://www.teknic.com/products/clearpath-brushless-dc-servo-motors/

Yes. Some other gentleman posted about clear path previously. It looks like it a very powerful all in one unit. I want to learn more about these units: how are they different from stepper motors and servo motors or DC motors on the market. What is the innovation of ClearPath and other vendors in this space. Purely an academic pursuit to improve my knowledge.

Looks like a way to make them easier. There is quite a bit to get normal servo up and running. The downside is that whe the controller fries its on the motor not is a nice clean panel.
