Recently, I’ve been having nothing but trouble with the 4 segment neopixel rings from Adafruit.

The first segment works fine: the second third and fourth are intermittently erratic.
Originally, I joined the rings between contacts with just solder.
Fearing a poor connection (it looks like a poor data connection) I redid the ring using naked header pins to bride the contacts.

I thought it was fine, so I shipped out the crown, and I hear it’s gone epileptic again.

This appears to be a fairly new problem… I wonder if they’ve changed PCB makers.

I think this question is something for their forum. They always respond in a timely manner from my previous product support issues…

I did ask their forum. I wasn’t satisfied with the response, so I figured I’d toss the question out here.

does look like a flaky data line, may even be internal to an LED

Did you connect the data line start to it’s end?

@Kevin_Price nope, though I’m confident that would make the animation looks equally as terrible
