Recently replaced the fan on my printrbot simple metal, and prints have benefited greatly.

The original fan on the printrbot was at an angle, and I think that it was fighting gyroscopic forces, because the bearings wore out and it’s begun to push less air and make more noise lately. Just in case, the new blower motor is mounted vertically to try and avoid this.

There’s a thingiverse page on my parts to use a J-Head with the simple metal, it works well but I’m looking forward to getting one of the new metal Ubis hotends this summer.

My understanding is that there is only gyroscopic torque if the spin axis direction is changed. Translation will not cause any gyroscopic torque. Most 3d printers only translate, so there should not be any gyroscopic torque.
