Reprapdiscout offers 3 kind of hotend: Hexagon, merlin and Trinitilabs Magma. Whilie merlin and hexagon have almost same price trinitilabs magma is much more expansive. What’s the differece of performance of the 3 kind of hothend? Is there anything in performance that justify Price? Is there any "gold standard " for hotends? does it exits a comparative performance test for existing hotends?
I’ve been using the Hexagon with 0.4mm nozzle for quite a while. The hot end is very nice and I’ve had no problems with it other than an initial clog probably from manufacuring debree. I got it mainly because it appeared nice and I had to get other things from them.
Though, had I known that Reprapdiscount does not answer subsequent emails or forum postings in their own support forum I would have chosen E3D right away.
Customer service from RRD is far from impressive. It’s actually lousy in my opinion.
