Reusing old parts :slight_smile: Minned from old A3 copier, this week.

4x Nema 17 steppers
Lots of rods
Springs
Endostops (mechanical and optical)
Wires with connectors and extenders for take down extruder.

And more sensors, motors, solenoids, rotating laser, gears, small belts + scrap and plastic hill in my garage.

I scavenged a bunch of pancake steppers from a discarded color laser printer. They were 57 steps/rotation. I wonder what yours will be.

@Eric_Davies Type 17PM-K103-19V http://Hybrid.Technical Specifications:1.8 deg 200 steps/rev when full-stepping.

@Erik_Z
So you’re gonna convert a 2d printer to a 3d one?

That’s a gold mine right there!

@mark_warlick  I already have one built from 2D :slight_smile:

beware with optical endstops, some models use current resistors on endstops, some on boards…

Through my work they throw out lots of old tech. Anything I should look out for that may be a good resource to pull steppers from? Or other good bits.

I remember dumpster diving for parts, it was so much fun

@Robert_R scanners and big multifunctional copiers

Still using some of the shafts that I found taking all sorts of printers and scanners apart. But I don’t think I found a single Nema 17 in there.
And indeed, I have more endostops than I can ever need.
