@Richard_Horne created the benchmark of extruder and Slic3r setup guides back in the beginning of 2012. Even though it references a now-outdated Slic3r version, the part about extruder calibration still universally applies to all modern printers; the Slic3r setup has marginally changed since then, but the basic ideas are the same.
Great guides, read them if you haven’t done so yet!
Thanks @Thomas_Sanladerer and as a bit of trivia the Slic3r Part1 blog post still gets around 2000 page views every single day on my blog! - and do check out the new Slic3r manual by @Gary_Hodgson http://manual.slic3r.org/Intro.html
I frequently refer others to the guide when they are floundering. Although I’d argue that both kisslicer and Cura are nicer than Slic3r these days :).
@Tim_Rastall competition is good
I think we will see Slic3r bounce back up there with some really great new developments in the next year.
Good link, i just read it. Some is review but good for me as i read them anyway as you never know when you will pick up something you overlooked before.
@Richard_Horne I’m sure it will
I’ll stick with Kiss till then. Incidentally, the big Tantillus files are up on Youmagine, no build guide yet but if you’re still keen to build one, I can give you some pointers.
@Tim_Rastall I already have them downloaded and have printed most parts, all the gears, then I spotted quite a lot of parts were missing - they are in the Machine STEP file (very nice model BTW), but I have not had a chance to get them extracted so I can print the rest.
Really like the spectra bobbins.
Also the bearing mounts seem to be missing frame mounting holes? not sure why.
We are hijacking this post, so I’ll carry on later.
