I have gone through a lot of systems to store and use my filaments … this is what iam using now:

you can print or use any tube that fits 2 small ballbearings (4/8mm).
now you only need a string and 1 point to mount. As you can see the packaging bag is still on - so the humidity is keept low (down you can see the silica gel packs- and you can pour new ones in from time to time).
The spool will not rotate free as the strings and bag will slow it a bit.
A PTFE tube will guide the filament till the printer (you could seal the bag to it). So you can store and change them well with the string loop. To secured the string from slipping, its glued to the bamboo stick.
