Don’t think it’d matter for a plasma. You might see it in surface finishes if you were milling.
I’m staggering the splices to post that a bit, also have staggered wheels on the gantry plates. I will be running a torch height controller stop no worries about a little sag. Definitely going to support y rails though
I have seen a similar setup on a mill. It worked great. The builder stated that if you run over the joint area with a fine file smooth out the transition and it will not translate into the work.
