@Sanjay_Mortimer - I’m printing with the #E3D v6 and loving it already - such a compact package! Nothing like increased clamping force to improve heat transfer!

Have any recommended retraction speed / length settings for a bowden drive? I’m currently running at 150mm/s retraction of 9mm of ABS filament - doesn’t look to bad but I feel it could be improved. Using one of @Whosa_whatsis Deezmaker Tatsu drive gears on a rostock extruder with steps per mm tuned thrice.

9mm retraction? That seems excessive, how long is your bowden tube?

Yes, it is excessive - bowden tube is about 18cm long, I’ll measure it tomorrow. Would too far a retraction distance actually lead to more blobbing?

It could, due to the hot nozzle staying in contact longer than necessary.

hmmm the print product looks really raw and “shaky” on XY axes

The picture doesn’t do it justice - just fighting blobbing at this point

If your tube is that short you should only need a couple of mm! Try something like 2mm, fast is good. 9mm is definitely excessive.

Yeah, at 18cm, it must be one of those ones where the extruder is suspended on rubber bands from the carriages. The Bukito’s bowden tube is 30cm, and it only needs 2mm retraction.

My mistake on the length measurement - I was short by a factor of 2.5. Getting much nicer prints with the short retraction distance. Thanks
