Serial Coms without the USB

I am trying to setup Bluetooth with my SmoothieBoard but I am having no luck. My first thoughts were that the BT is not working but then I tried hooking up a USB-to-serial adapter to the pins next to the USB to test it and it does not respond.

From the Pin mapping I understand that those pins are also the ISP TX/RX. Do I need to set some kind of config settings if I also want to use those pins for sending g-code?

Any help will be appreciated…. Thanks.

I have no knowledge about this, but have you read http://smoothieware.org/bluetooth-serial ?

Yes… The link is what inspired me to try this.

I see Peter is adding a ESP12 to the P0.2 and P0.3 lines for serial over Wifi.

Has the above been tested cause I am not getting any response from my SmoothieBoard when trying it with a simple USBtoSerial(3
v3) converter.

Yes several people have gotten bluetooth serial to work with smoothie.

It’s a really simple serial port, and it’s well known to work … maybe exchange tx/rx or something?

Thanks for the help. I managed to get it going. Was an issue of getting the correct baud rate and not be use to Smoothie’s interface compared to GRBL.
