Silicone cover for E3D v6
http://b.bonkers.de/?p=179
Can someone enlighten me as to the advantages of a silicone cover for the hot block? Is it simply to stabilize the temperature of the block?
Yes, stabilize, but also isolate. Less heat going towards the cold end of the extruder. The first time I saw it was from nophead http://hydraraptor.blogspot.com/2013/10/mendel90-design-improvements.html
Stabilizing is one thing, another is that less heat will be radiated towards the printed part and the cooling of the hotend. For me personaly it saved me from blisters a couple of times already.
Do you sell the silicone covers for the e3d v6 as well? because seems like quite a hassle to mold one myself.
Sorry, it’s way to much hassle for me to sell them. I only do this for fun, not to make any money.
Such a pitty… I’ll try to create some myself then with your files in
thingiverse. Some ideas on how to do it the easy way?
Kindest regards
Ruben
That is already the easy way. You don’t have to worry about the exact amount or alignment etc.
Just fill up the hole with a couple of grams of Silicone, press the upper part in and let it cure.
If you want to be extra careful apply a bit of silicone to the upper edge near the handle to make sure there are no bubbles in that area…
Where do you get the silicone?
Troll factory in germany
