Silly / Crazy idea for the day:

Silly / Crazy idea for the day: I print thermal shipping labels and don’t use the last 2 inches of each; they are cut off and saved for general use. It dawned on me that I could “print” on those by sticking them down on my Printrbot’s table and NOT extruding on them with a heated extruder. Works great, but… a) the printed line is quite large because of the size of the hot end. b) files I can make with text as a 3d printed object want to extrude. Anyone have suggestions / comments on how to correct either of those limitations or any thoughts about what use that might be? I’m thinking about a pointy metal “cap” for the hot end and setting the extrusion multiplier to 1%. And I’m wondering if I can “laser etch” wood by burning it with the hot end…
