Simple Box
For containing and venting ABS prints off my MakerFarm Prusa i3v
It will heat up the motors excessively. I made one enclosure for my Prusa i3 and covered only the Y-axis. All the Electronics and X,Y,Z stepper motor were kept outside the Enclosure.
Still the Extruder stepper is getting hot like anything…
@Tech_World an interesting point. @ScannerStrap , have you seen that? I was lucky enough to have enclosed my build plate without enclosing my motors on my German RepRap Neo, and like it a lot, but I know that’s a special case here.
If your motors are getting that hot you need to adjust your drivers
Thanks for the suggestions about heating up of the stepper motors. I too was questioning about that. Luckily I have an opening on the far side of the enclosure opposite the vent outlet and the far end of the vent hose is connected to a fan that discharges the air out the window. Alas, there is a significant amount of air flow across the printer. When I open it up during a print it is not any hotter in the enclosure than before I made it.
nicely done- thanks for sharing
@ScannerStrap if it is no hotter inside then what is the point. I just built an enclosure and mounted my electronics outside
