Since the cold is messing up all my prints, and a heated chamber just caused PLA jams, I decided to upgrade my PrintrBot Simple is with some creations by iamjonlawrence (thingiverse). I had printed and ordered parts for them some time ago, but I’ve just been waiting for a good time to install:
Double-Precision, belt driven X axis (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:201009)
Double-Precision, belt driven Y axis (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:203843)
I’ll post here what teh results are.
I wonder if you’ll be able to go a bit faster with belts.
Did you print the toothed gears (not in black)?
@Alan_McNeil No, the toothed gears are from McMaster-Carr (the most expensive part!) I followed iamjonlawrence’s BOM. The belt is not the typical 3mm stuff used on most printers, though he does have designs for the 3mm belts.
If it is cold where you are and the cold is effecting your prints as you say, you might not want to have your printer next to the window (looks like it is in this shot). Just an observation.
