Since the RGB kickstarter shades won’t be here in time for St. Hallow’s Eve, (they will for New Year’s!) I put little thing together for a quick and dirty, ‘thhhhing’.

Ok, the specs:
-Arduino Micro running FastLED2.1 with dithering
-Adafruit Power Boost 500 running off 2 AA’s, a great feature about this board, is that you can analogRead() a voltage output from the board to trigger low voltage events. The LED next to the switches is an indicator via software that will blink a various rates based upon voltage thresholds. I got this idea from @Mark_Kriegsman 's BIRD’s for burning man.
-Adafruit ADXL377 accelerometer 200+g rating (WAY overkill, but all I had) let’s just say that with a ring of led’s, this addition was pretty much a no-brainer to include.
-2 salvage switch’s from an old Roomba. These things are great, you actively have to pull the switch back against a spring, to trigger an event. No more pocket dials, so to speak. I use the OneButton library, found on Github, basically with 1 button, you can control 3 or more different commands. One necessity is a master brightness control function in my code. As the batteries deplete, I can still rock my brightness levels, via the indicator led’s blinking rate.
-Neopixel rings from Adafruit are standard issue.
-1/8th a stick of hot glue, no short’s now! I gave up on heat shrink tube for temporary rig’s.
-one big @ss Schottky diode salvage from an old video board because of it’s VERY LOW forward voltage drop. When programming the Micro via USB, the power boost board was leaching power. I tried a 1N4001 (over 1 volt of dropout) but I was getting brown out’s when the LED’s were showing CRGB::White.

I just placed an order for some NeoPixel rings yesterday. Looking forward to creating something similar soon. Thanks for sharing!

Jon, this is absolutely not a promise…but I’ll contact you in about a week regarding that delivery timing.

@Garrett_Mace I wasn’t complaining a bit, but thank you! I’m excited to get my hands on them!
