Slic3r question: Can someone explain a bit better than the manual on "Solid infill

Slic3r question:

Can someone explain a bit better than the manual on “Solid infill threshold area” and “Advanced extrusion width”?

For the advanced extrusion width, what happens when you put a smaller number than what it truly is. Would that make the machine try to fill in smaller gaps? If that made any sense. What parameter do I need to adjust to make the machine fill the untouched area.

Solid infill threshold area
This is a volume that it considers ‘small’ and will do a solid infill on. It’s going to be challenging to figure out what that would be, on that part. Maybe measure the length of the edge with a string x the width and depth of the gap and give it anouther 10% to be safe. Or, just add a few zeros and force it solid.
