Smartcore almost ready. Printing at 80mm/s with 150 moves. Happy ! I start to have something i wanted : simple to build like the smartrap but stronger base for hacks and upgrades.
It will be a simple option for Smartfriendz customers : Smartrap OR Smartcore… same price ! you choose
Openjscad model is uptodate on youmagine : https://www.youmagine.com/designs/smartcore

Nice I like the simplistic design.
I see you have an induction probe, but a glass/wood bed… How does that work ?
Thank you Andre.
There is aluminium tape under the glass. I use a 18 / 8mm inductive sensor.
That’s enough to trigger the sensor ? How thick is the glass ?
I have the same sensor on my highly modifier Printrbot Simple (Maker) with a full aluminium bed (3.2mm thick) and my sensor only detects the metal at about 2mm.
Ha yes, there is different models. It goes from 2mm to 8mm detection. The most commonly used is 12mm diam and 4mm detection.
The glass is 3mm thick , so I used a HUGE 18mm sensor with 8mm detection
It’s big…but we have space .
Interesting. I did not know that there were different detection range sensors.
Above movie is a bowden type extruder but YouMagine is direct drive. Has it been updated to bowden but without pictures?
Crooked belt paths… ⋆cringe⋆
The path from the motor to the first (moving) carriage needs to be parallel to the moving direction!
@djC653 We have both system running now. If you watch the openjscad, you can switch between systems and all will be udated acordingly
I din’t update the pictures , you’re right.
@Thomas_Sanladerer Ho… that’s interesting !?! so I shouldn’t put two bearings one on top of each other , so everything stay parallel ?
The resulting part went very ok to me, but maybe it was too small to see a problem. Thnx
Tnx @Smartfriendz_3d_prin , I was just at the Jscad site and saw that. My first time there (http://openjscad.org/). Cool site.
I’m now having trouble getting individual .stl’s for this printer so I can print and build one.
Anything special I need todo? When I go to “parts only” I get this error: "ReferenceError: xend_Jhead_attach is not defined Stack trace: main@blob:http://openjscad.org/5b9c75ae-9eea-4cfc-add9-da29cb77fb00 line 8 > eval:1241:13 OpenJsCad.runMainInWorker@http://openjscad.org/openjscad.js:561:18 @blob:http://openjscad.org/5b9c75ae-9eea-4cfc-add9-da29cb77fb00:47:86
"
ho… i think i must upgrade the file then. I had this bug this afternoon and repaired here. Sorry for that.
About the individual files, I intend to export a full plate of all elements to print at once ( for automatic export of all parts separatly, i would need to hack the javascript on youmagine
With this “big” plate part, you can always separate it in elements later… for example in blender : - import stl, press tab to pass in edit mode, press p-> ( separate), by loose parts and you have all elements.
I hope i can go further with the code … i would love to export the wood plank dimensions, as the rods lengths.
I updated the jscad . now “printed parts plate” works. At least we can export all parts well oriented on a big plate ( you will need to re-arrange for your plate dimension, still.
Of course, all options are dynamic to the generated parts everywhere.
soon , a “generated plate tool” with the dimension of your own printer plate and auto arrangement
( not tonight, it’s going late in France) .
Tnx for the fix. The error doesn’t happen any more, and all the parts in the plate are on the bed. Nice. I have Blender so I will split it in there. I also just realized I can get to OpenJscad.org through YouMagine. Nice again.
Thx Anan. I didn’t do real tests and i’m new to boxed printers, even if it’s a dead simple box. I noticed the plastic starts to go away from its path in corners starting at 100mm/s. … Funny.
I use only ramps from the beginning… for smartraps, for smartcore. It works, so why change ?
@Smartfriendz_3d_prin Hi, Im comming back to your project! I must say hi on the forum, it’s been too long …Can you give me anny hint how to connect the direct extruder with carriage in 0.9.1.7 version?
I’ve juste redesigned the all thing , as you could see, but didn’t redo the direct extruder for now. I think it will come this week or next week.
also, some options are not well working right now in this version like 8mm rods, some sizes …
Crapp, I was in middle of printing with such nice colour xD Ok, tkanks, then I will print the older version. How You have connected the proximity sensor to ramps?
