smoothie board pause for long time

Hello,

I’ve just swap my mega+ramps to a smoothieboard compatible (azsmz) on my delta.

But when i try to print the smoothie board pause every 5 min for about 10 min then continue the job ( even the pannel is not responsible).

I try to put a new usb cable with ferrite at each end as i read here but it didn’t help.
It append even with print from SD card, it append also with the G32 calibration.

What can it be ?

my config
azsmz board + azsmz panel
drv8825 drivers
Windows 8.1 (i’ve try 1.0 and 1.1 drivers)
latest edge firmware

Imported from wikidot

What are you using to generate, and send the G-code ?

i’ve generated with Cura. (sended with pronterface and i’ve try via the SD too)

but i don’t think the G-code is relevant to the problem.

because the pause is also there when i launch the delta calibration (G32 command launched via the “custom” menu of the lcd) .
The pause is not always at the same moment.

Bonjour

English:
this has nothing to do with the slicer for me, as the problem also occur when a do a G32 calibration procedure ( even from the LCD)

Could you do a video of the problem ? I have a hard time understanding what exactly happens.

Sorry i can’t i’ve remove the board to go back to the ramps as i was needing the printer for a project.

the problem is simple to explain:

i have added a custom entry in the pannel to make a auto calibration (but the problem occure also if a send the gcode via usb, ).

i start the auto calibration. the printer make 4-5 move then freeze (even the pannel is freezing). then after 5-10 min it continue for 4-5 moves the re-freeze and so on.

I’d really need video of the problem.

Also, I’m not sure -when- exactly this happens.

  • When sending G32 from the panel ?
  • When sending G32 over serial ?
  • When printing from the SD card ?
  • All of those ?

on all of those :frowning:

I believe I’m having the same issue. Any activity, sending gcode like g32, g28, even g0 or g1, the printer stops. Even jogging around with Pronterface But I have noticed if I unplug the USB and plug it back in, the printer resumes the command or program until the next pause. It seems that LED 2 or 3 or both are not lit when this pause occurs. After unplugging the USB and replugging the LEDs light and flicker until the next pause. I’m running Windows 8.1. I have the ferrite coils at each end of the USB. I’ve tried both drivers. I’ve relocated the board in case of interference. Nothing seems to help. Where could I send the video?

Well, for the first time the pause happened and LEDs 2 and 3 were lit. Guess that’s not a very good symptom to go by.

I can’t get the Ethernet port to connect either. I’ve tried auto IP and manual and used the examples in the wiki. After working on this from 8AM to 4AM yesterday and so far another 4 hours today I’m getting fairly frustrated. I really, really want this board to work. I’m ready to order 50 of them if they do. But I hate to admit it’s getting the best of me. I’m sure somebody knows how to get this done.

Hi,

have you tried to debug using the Serial debug interface? That helped me a lot and its very easy to use!
Just connect one of those USB to Serial converters (Search Amazon for “USB to TTL”) and open a serial console to this port.
Maybe you can figure out whats the problem with that.

Logxen was kind enough to send me a firmware.bin which has the msd_disable function enabled. Enabled in my config as well and sweet connection bliss.

Thanks again, Logxen

I had the same problem recently where the printer disconnects in the middle of a print. Did you ever figure out a solution to the problem?
Thanks,
Austin

You can try disabling MSD ( see the troubleshooting guide ), it seems to have worked for jlmccuan

What host software are you using ?
