Smoothie halt randomly

I am using both cura slicer (repetier host last version) and simplify3D, both works fine on the marlin firmware,
try to sort out the problem, but it seems i cannot get rid of the halt.
The power supply is more than enough, 40 amps continuous power!!
The cables are all ok, so the thermistors and fans, no overheating, nothing of nothing….
It halt even randomly after heating and leave the printer for 5 minutes without printing some times…
Very frustrating!!!
Help
Thank you

Can you please print using pronterface, and see in the terminal panel in pronterface if smoothie sends it any error when the problem occurs ?

Ok, i will connect the computer to smoothie, as i normally print just with the SD casrd inserted
Thank you

Hi,
Just had another fail on smoothie connected to pronterface this time as suggested,
The message tell : failure due to the bed took too much time to reach the temperature….
But the bed is always at the same temp and is stable at 50º, just 0.1/0.2º variation, so nothing!
all is connected well, i really cannot found any reason, i was looking at the printer, and i can confirm that the temperature was always 50º even when the failure occuerred.
what i’m missing?
There any command i can sent to verify something?
Regards

Can you set the runaway values for your bed to 0 :

http://smoothieware.org/temperaturecontrol#toc24

and see if you still get trouble ?

In my config this parameter was commented, as soon as i uncomment it to enable, smoothie freeze on startup….
If i comment it again all get “normal” again and smoothie boot as usual
What’s wrong?
PS. i’m using the last firmware….

can we see your config, pasted to pastebin.com ? ( post it there and give us the link )

http://pastebin.com/Zx4shYBc

Would you mind disabling all of your custom menu entries ( remove them temporarily ), and try again ( add the runaway parameters to the bed, and set them to 0. do not just uncomment those for the hotend, we are talking about the bed here )

Ok, i’ll do now and let you know…
Regards

So, i deleted all the custom menu entries, just left the original one(Power On/Off)
Added the runawai parameters for the bed, nothing change, it still halt after a while, and is more or less the same time.
I get the same good temperature reading, 50º stable, not less at any time, so it should never tell me that it took to long for the temperature to rise up, the bed is heating to 50º in 30 seconds and stay there perfectly…… I even tried another smoothie(spare brand new one) but is always the same, tried even new thermistor……
Don’t really know what to do…

Can I please see : the current config with the edits we talked about, the exact result of the M105 command, and the exact message smoothie gives you ( copy/pasted )

Ok Gentlemans,
Just realize one thing: in the config file, the hot-end it has the pid for the tuning, the bed instead don’t!
So in desperation i added the pid for the bed and tuned it.
Added again all my custom section……. ALL WORKING like a charme!!!
I am very surprised about that i have to say.

One important thing!!!
As i started using an ATX power supply, i connected first the “power on” wires to the small mosfet and configured it,
then 5 volts power supply, as the ATX allow 5 volts continuosly even if the power is not switched onby short circuiting the wires, so smoothie power up immediately except the main power.
Well, it turned up that the mosfet is dead if the 12 volts are not present, but it works with the specific command if i power up the 12 volts manually :-((
So, i connected the wires in the other way(switch.psu.output_pin 0.25o! # open drain, inverted)
All working as expected, BUT!!! the Temperature reading is not reliable, the numbers are like crazy, going up and down, impossible to print!!!
its me or is the wrong way to connect the ATX?
Just to be clear, the ATX is not a chinese cheap one, is a Corsair 1000 watts(Model RM1000i)
Just some comments to let you know.
Now Smoothie is still working from 6 hours without any problem
