Smoothie recovery? PID readings extruder 526C bed 128C

I have been using my Smoothie board for months now and decided to swap out my hot end however I had it heated/power applied and forgot I had power applied and the live wires touched my extruder causing a quick short. I quickly secured power however to make matters worse I wired the new hot end backwards sending 12V off of the hot end power to the thermistor input and wired the thermistor to the 12V output. ow when I fire up the board all the axis work fine however I get a bed temperature of about 128C and an extruder reading of 526C. I basically cannot do anything at this point. Does anyone have any ideas or I have I smoked this board? I have two other thermistor input available however since the bed input has a reading issue now when I did not touch that portion I am very concerned. Maybe those input are protected by a diode or something that I can easily replace. Any assistance in resolving my stupidity would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Tim

Hi there.

Feeding 12V power into very sensitive circuits like ADCs is pretty much guaranteed to kill them ( you are pretty much lucky the microcontroller survived at all ).

It is likely all your thermistor inputs are dead ( as they all share one underlying ADC ), can you test other inputs to make sure please ?

Cheers.

I tested all four addresses and on the other two the temperature reading was much lower and I was able turn on the hot end or hot bed I was not able to get a reading through the thermistor. I tested the thermistors and even wired up a new on I had and the result was the same. So at this point I am lucky the rest of the board it ok and can be used for other CNC projects.

Not sure how long I will need to wait to get a 5X board from Uberclock and they are out of stock now.

Cheers!!

I’m really glad you can use the board in a CNC later, that’s much better than not being able to use it at all.

About uberclock I think they’ll be in stock in a few weeks. You can order at robotseed if you want, it’ll just mean more expensive shipping.
