Hello everyone,
So I purchases a smoothieboard to use on my 3dprinter and it has not worked from the second I plugged it in. I was following the instructions on how to set up the board for a 3D printer. However, when I unboxed the board and plugged it into my laptop (Windows 7) the board was not recognized at all. I repeated unplugging it a few times and it eventually recognized it. However, then I came into another problem after I checked the SD card, my laptop would not allow me to use the device unless I formatted it. Thus, I do not think I had another option and went ahead with the format. I assumed that the format cleared the bootloader files on the SD card and I have been trying to reinstall it. When I go into MagicFlash with the board in bootloader mode I get an error stating the device is in use. Strangely, when I try the same thing without bootloader mode MagicFlash gives me and Autobaud- step 2 error. I am positive I am using the correct COM ports and have followed all the instructions exactly. Furthermore, I have tried to fix this on my Win7 desktop computer, but got stuck at the same errors. I have tried to install the bootloader with smoothie drivers installed on my PC and with them not installed I have also tried installing the drivers manually. My desktop and laptop both recognize the Smoothie board and I can see them in the device manager. Does anyone have any ideas on what the issue can be?
