Smoothieboard psu help

Hi

I have a smoothieboard.
The smoothieboard page states the drivers as capable of driving bipolar steppers up to 35V and 2A.
The power input is described as

  • Main 12-35V ( Stepper drivers )

I’ve got 3 Nema23 3.1Nm stepper motors (cnc4you.co.uk 60BYGH301B).

In series mode the stepper motors work at 5.46V, 2.1 A.

Can I use a 5V PSU or will I have to use a PSU higher than 12V as stated in the power input section?

Hi !

The rated voltage for your stepper motors is a pretty meaningless value. Just ignore it.
Stepper motors should be run with a 12V or a 24V power supply.
