So after all my bellyaching about the Prusa variant of Slic3r not being available for Linux (I would have to compile my own), I was checking for the latest version today and sure enough, now there’s a Linux version available! So, go ahead… it was easy peasy to get running on Ubuntu 16.04.1. Just uncompress the file in your /home and make sure you have freeglut3 installed.
After that, I just double clicked on the executable and away it went. I use Ubuntu Mate, so it was easy for me to add it to the Applications menu. I am not familiar with most of the other desktop options out there, so if you don’t use the Mate desktop, you are on your own.
