So anyway. my makerbot replicator 2 sustain electrical damage in a lightning strike. i need to find a replacement mighty board (mother board). and preferably one that doesn’t cost $800 AUD.

any and all help is greatly appreciated. please. tell me what you think.

I don’t know if there are any good options. You might look for old Flashforge boards since they copied Replicators very closely. Anything else and you’ll have to run new wires.

Swapping in a Flashforge Mightyboard RevE is an option. You’ll need to swap out the LCD panel at the same time though, the ribbon wire assignments are different. And you’ll need to replace the wiring harnesses to swap the stock ribbon cables out to standard plugs for endstops and motors. So, pretty big pain to be honest. The extruder wiring is more or less compatible though.

Fargo3D in the US should be able to get you a Makerbot replacement board (by request - contact them) for less than Bilby in Australia, but it’s still not going to be cheap.

@Ryan_Carlyle thank you so much. this is a much better alternative to what i found on bilby3d. also thank you for that bit of tecnical info. i was always expecting to have to rework the cabling if i were to go with a alternative mightyboard.
