So, following on from the arrival of my CNC parts, here is how the build is progressing. I’ve actually got the X,Y,Z all under RAMPS control now, and moving nice and smoothly.

I’m very pleased with the way this is going, I’ve never done anything like this before!

Awesome work. I tried wood. It’s been a disaster. I was using easy drivers to start. Tried some lead screws and a belt drive. Metal is expensive much more accurate. Following you to see your finished project.

Thanks wes. Next job is to get the extruder installed and finish the wiring …

More. I’m estimating the total build cost to be around $1500, including all the electronics, hardware, wiring, connectors, etc … and a spool of PLA of course! :slight_smile:

But this is an journey of education, not of cost saving …

This looks fantastic! Did you buy pre-cut aluminium profile? What lengths?

Thanks! Yes, I got 20x20 aluminum extrusion from Misumi. They will cut each piece to your desired length, and the price is very reasonable. The base is about 425x425mm.
