So Hey all. Haven’t posted in a while, but ran across Ohfila filament on Amazon. Has anyone tried this stuff? Is it made in the USA, or just imported from somewhere else? All their site says is that they’re located in San Dimas, CA. Really tempting at $14/ 1 lb with prime shipping though.

You can always email them, or ask for a sample. There are so many different vendors an rebadged stuff that it’s hard to tell.
Only 450 grams. That comes out to an even $31 for a full kg. If you’re looking for a bargain on good filament check out Micro Center.
Small spools are handy sometimes, but that’s no bargain.
if you want high quality USA made PLA I can highly recommend http://atomicfilament.com this is $29.99/Kg (that is over 2lbs!) free shipping in the US. I have several Kg of this in various colors and it prints really well at around 185°C. (YMMV) the dimensions are excellent too. Highly recommended stuff
@Wolfmanjm Interesting. Free shipping too not bad. What printer do you use this on?
@Adam_Steinmark I have three printers, a large Delta, a large Corexy and a small cartesian. It prints well on all of them. I use both 3mm and 1.75mm filament, but primarily 3mm at the moment. I’ve used it on Jheads (genuine) and a Volcano. I’ve only used the PLA, but I am told the ABS is also pretty good. Oh and it is made in southern California I believe.
@Wolfmanjm I mainly use Hatchbox from Amazon on my Printrbot Simple Metal (ABS & PLA), have you ever used it before and if so how would you compare it?
@Adam_Steinmark no I have not used that. I have used some chinese stuff (not great), Protoparadigm (not bad but requires high temps), Ultimachine (pretty good), and Diamond age/Printbl (the best you can get). The http://atomicfilament.com PLA compares well with the diamondage, prints just as well at about the same temps, and is half the price of diamondage. It is probably the best stuff I have used so far. (and certainly the best cheap stuff I have used).
@Wolfmanjm Well there’s free shipping so I’ll check out a roll. I’ve been looking for a PLA that prints as clear as the sample from Printrbot that came with my printer.
I don’t think you will be disappointed… I wasn’t
Check out prototype supply. You can get it on amazon or from http://toybuilderlabs.com. Their abs and PLA is 29.99 a kg (2.2 lbs). They are based in California but work really closely with their manufacturer to ensure high quality. I’ve been extremely satisfied by their filaments.
Yeah. Must have been half asleep last night when I posted. If I wanted to get a bargain, I could always get 2lbs for 25. I’ll give atomic a shot though. Was thinking about trying then anyways. Sorry for the runaround.
