so i have been having decent success over the last week with printing lot's

so i have been having decent success over the last week with printing lot’s of things. I have been printing in ‘brown’ and ‘glow in dark blue’, both from reprapper. So this morning i switch over to a new roll of ‘natural’, (also from RR), and it is totally giving me problems. seems like i can’t get a perfect first layer. i have checked the bed, tried with brown again, switched back to nature, adjusted flow rate, temp, tried with and w/out fan… anybody have any insight? does natural usually print well at a lower temp than colored filaments? 1.75 PLA, btw.

Yep. And it’s pretty consistent. And size doesn’t vary much from my other rolls of filament from them. Hrrrm. Just now re leveling and try again. Again

K thanks. I missed the last part of your first reply- I know I need to include some pics- I am just printing onto non heated bed on blue painters tape. Releveled and thought I had it but then or clumpy layin down the first layer again, outline went fine but halfway thru 1st layer screws up- killin me! Gonna have to step away or a few:/

No snappin or popping, nozzle looks to be extruding clean.

By ‘extruded idler’ do you mean the tension adjust for my feed into the hobbed bolt? Printrbot jr v1 here. I appreciate the input too. Thanks

Interesting. O. K.

Aaaah. Gotcha. Makes sense! Will check it out.

Just posted a pic as well of last failure- see the initial ‘outlines’ lay down fine. Grrrrrrr. I have had this issue somewhat before- but a good leveling and what we have discussed usually has done the trick

@Ashley_Webster Interesting about curling extrudate … must have missed that one. Nice to see you’ve beem reading @nop_head 's info. I learned alot early on with those reads.

So I posted another pic. Raised the be a bit so the first layer is def squash some; I have not tweaked in firmware my z steps as I am waitin on new m8 rod, but if I can print with 2 other filament no probs it seems like it is something else I am not getting. In the last pic I also changed the fill angle in the slice, to make sure it wAsnt some Y/x prob

Nobody has mentioned the temperature. In my experience, natural works at about 10C lower than the darker colors I have.

I had a similar problem where the edges were perfect and the infill all curled up and didn’t stick. Mine was on kapton on a heated bed, but looks similar to your picks. As other plastic works for you, you could have the same problem as me. Turns out my filament was too moist. Maybe the natural PLA is too moist.

I think you need to drop the temperature. I had the same problem and forgot I’d upped the temperature on a different roll.
