so, i have installed a kitkat rom on my xoom today and the printer is no longer recognized. I had no trouble with android 4.0.2 on the same tablet.

how can i generate useful info to debug this?

enable debug logging in the options , retry connect , send me the console output (long press on console -> send email) Thanks.

hm, “No USB device found” is bad. Worst case is that the upgrade removed the support for unknown USB devices. Please try out the FAQ tips: http://gcodesim.dietzm.de/FAQ.html#detecterror

sent!

crap, the controller is an azteeg x3, so, its ftdi. is there any way i can get deep on the os to debug it?

If your device is rooted, you can use “USB Host Diagnostics” to automatically fix some known OTG issues.

usb host diag. doesnt detect the controller. I guess i will have to go back to 4.0.2

You can do it manually, using insmod if you have original driver still. I had similar issue with touch screen driver on a A13 all winner. I found faaastjb ROM worked with a ts patch. My modules were visible through a root file manager on android store. they were (iirc)
/system/vendor/modules/
Good luck.
