So I have some learning to do today. Curious if you guys might give me a head start.
I transfer a DXF into AutoCad that someone else has already made. I make a few changes, take some holes out, add other holes.
I save the file as AutoCad 2013 DXF
I import into CamBam, paid seat, do my pocket and profile MOPs, export.
Import into tgFX. Turn machine on and run.
Issue, the holes I inserted in the drawing are being machined as triangles. Display on tgFX confirms.
Go back to CamBam, view tool paths, circles, Gcode view is triangles…
The two holes that came from the original drawing machine as circles.
Thank you +Peter van der Walt I had read that somewhere before. What goes wrong with the newer formats? It has successfully worked for me before, but occasionally this happens.
On a side note, if the DXF import in CAMBAM is correct, the toolpath should read a circle when it sees it. If it does not what else it does not or will not read in the future?
As Peter mentioned it, the DXF format has many incompatibilities within CAD solutions, which is where a solution like ArtClip3D can help as there are many ways to by pass this kind of issues. First of all I have not seen a DXF turning circles into triangles while post-processed, which is a relief, but you can also output the results of the machining as segments only which is of course not the best way to smooth the curves but at least you do not output 3 segment for a circle… Added to other huge advance capabilities in the 2D tools of ArtClip3D, you have with of course more bucks a more professional solution to insure your machining results. I was using a different software… BUT I had great luck just doing CTRL+A (select entire drawing) CTRL+C, open the CAM software and CTRL+V. The scale was 1:1 and everything was cut as expected.
Just my 2c.
Mike thank you for asking. ArtClip3D is distributed worldwide and its price varies according to the currencies which is the main reason why it does not appear on the global website. The base USD price is $1490.00 + eventual taxes. So in Euro that would be less due to the variation between those currencies, in pesos more and so on…
Mike, in my opinion it is positioned right in the market price for such solution and services, it is even way below it should be. Either you have not taken the time to read any information about what ArtClip3D comes with on its website, or you just want to talk about something you obviously do not understand. Thing is when you are willing to get a decent CAD/CAM solution with the right tools to drive your CNC the way you want it, you have to put a minimum amount of money to get that, otherwise you keep dealing with problems and no one to support you with. This said you are more than welcome to take another tour of ArtClip3D’s website and discover why our users decided to invest in our 2D and 3D solutions.
Well I was answering Mike questions and views on our products. Since without a CAD/CAM solution you cannot run any CNC, I think it was fair to talk about ArtClip3D. Now I agree this is probably not the best place.
Regarding Tradeshows we have been to major US, this is posted in the NEWS section of the website. So again if you want to have another tour of the website do not hesitate.
As for testing the product there is also a Saas Solution, again on the website so I guess after this said you have everything you guys need to get a proper opinion of what Artclip3D can bring.
