So i have the latest versions of both the arduino IDE and FastLED but i can’t seem to figure out the reason i get
#error “Requires FastLED 3.1 or later; check github for latest code.”
every single time… any ideas?

There’s a bug in recent versions of Arduino that is causing this to happen - just delete the line that says #error and you should be fine.
