So I just soldered up one of the heater wires.

So I just soldered up one of the heater wires. I wrapped it around the Bowden tube and I intend to wrap the other 3 around it as well. Is this a bad idea?

If you don’t wrap them around the tube you’ll end up cable tying it or using a plastic tube wrap instead, so I’d say that was a good idea.

Thanks @Mark_MARKSE_Emery and @Ross_Bagley . It is copper core wire so it isn’t super prone to bending. It’s held there at the moment by the tension of the wire and that’s pretty much it. Seems to be holding well. I just didn’t know is there would be so issue that I could run into by doing this. Thanks guys!

See you added the front support thats good. I also use the tube as a guide for the cables. On my smartrap I used a ide cable to take power and just ran it to the holder on the y axiz. But i cable tied them together but not to the tube and then used cable ties as loops every 15-29cm so it holds but its not attached to the tube. The one problem I see with how you have it is when you disconnect the bowden tube and you’re going to be doing it quite a bit the wires will limit movement.

What hak are you building? Is this a 3 D printer

Wuau!! You finally bought the j head lite! It won’t dissapoint you :slight_smile: Nice smartrap

@Abebe_Lemlem yes it’s a 3d printer. It’s a reprap.

And @Javier_Prieto yes I am so excited to try it! Do the heater wires and thermoster wires have certain polarity? As in does one wire in particular go to the positive connection on the ramps? thanks Javier!

You should use crimped connections on the hotend cables. Solder can potentially be heated and break the connections.

Dont wrap it around, use the tube as a guide and twrap it at intervals. If you wrap it around you make te tube stiffer so its harder to move all thou not much but depending on the amount of wire it can add up. Also with movement of the hot end the tube flexes. As it seamse you wind it tight the wire needs to expand to compensate the bendind… Dont think you find any problems but i think you find youreself fixing kabel beaks a lot sooner.

@Griffin_Paquette
Nope, you can connect them in any polarity (one is a resistor, and other just give you intensity :slight_smile:

Make sure there’s adequate strain relief at each end…that way you won’t have to troubleshoot an oddball temp issue 6 months from now.
