So i need to make several WiFi connected lights that i can all control

So i need to make several WiFi connected lights that i can all control on my phone using Blynk. What is the cheapest yet useful form of WiFi module i can use? Im currently using Wemos D1 mini pro.

I’ve been pretty happy with Particle Photon. $19 for a full controller + Wifi, and the Wifi goes through their Cloud platform – which means it’s super easy to program against. You can expose your code’s functions and then send them simple data through their mobile app. E.g. I use simple strings to trigger different “presets” for my LED strips.

The Wemos D1 mini is pretty hard to beat. I use the Pro, but you can save $1.50 and use the non-pro version. The pro seems to have much faster and more reliable uploads via USB. The lite only has 1MB FLASH for $3: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/WEMOS-D1-mini-Lite-V1-0-0-WIFI-Internet-of-Things-development-board-based-ESP8285-1MB/1331105_32795857574.html

I should also add that the Photon is 3V data, so you do need a level shifter if powering your strips off 5V. Add another $3 to the price.

Yeah im going for cheap right now. Ive been pretty pleased with my mini pro :slight_smile: i just need like 8 of them in different areas of the hose

House* darn screen acting up lol

Im gonna need a few to control my snowflakes for christmas as well. 113 LEDs each. Would the Wemos Lite be able to handle that?

D1 mini clones are available for as little as $2.70 including shipping. Hard to beat :wink: No need for a level shifter with APA102s

I have yet to try those APA LEDs ive only used WS2812B’s lol

I have a good amount of wemos D1 mini’s around my house all controlled by Blynk and have nothing but good things to say about them. Especially when you figure out how to upload code through WiFi and don’t need to connect to it with a USB cable.

You can upload though WiFi?!?!?! YOU MUST SHOW ME!

@Cristian_Martinez , try the ESP8266httpUpdate examples…

Are those under the ESP8266 library examples?

Sorry man i rarely take a day off so i dont have much time to play around with arduino :confused:
