So I would like to ask the community a question.

So I would like to ask the community a question. I just finished my printer and some of my friends have told me that I should offer a kit. I know that there are a million and one printer variations out there but I still wanted to ask the community if you think there would be much interest in a kit?

I would be interested in the source and instructions to build it, not a kit to buy. It looks interesting thigh, do you have more pictures?

@Justin_Nesselrotte I have a video on youtube if you want to view that http://youtu.be/t7iFNazMBQU. Quality is SD as I was trying to upload from my phone and youtube wouldn’t let me select HD.

Something else I was thinking about is instead of a full kit just the laser cut parts as I have a laser available to use. I understand that a lot of people know someone that can print the parts for them and like me want to source their own hardware but having access to a laser cutter is a different story.

Looks kind of like a prusa I3 modified in a box. Good job, looks good.

They quality of your prints make it an incredible machine. Hit the right price point and they would sell.

The biggest quagmire is support. Things will go wrong and the person building the kit might not have previous experience or savvy to piece together things from different parts of the internet.

@Jeff_DeMaagd , bingo, my thoughts exactly.

@Jeff_DeMaagd I agree. When I built my first printer it was from scratch and I sourced all of my parts. I was able to get everything I needed but I’ve done this type of thing in the past with other projects so I already knew what where and how to search for what I needed but I can definitely see where others would have a hard time and get frustrated. The last thing I want to do is discourage anyone from advancing with their 3D printer. We need more and more people with 3D printers. This is exactly why I wanted to do this poll. I have a full time job and if there was enough interest it would warrant me taking leave to make kits but if the interest was just so so then i didn’t want to make kits available without the ones receiving them able to have full immediate support.

OK, I finally had a chance to watch the whole video. The setup looks very well thought out and organizes things very well. Most kits designs throw you to the wolves in terms of trying to make it neat and organized. I have no need for such a kit anymore, but you might have something marketable here. Start out slow, make a good manual. Maybe consult a lawyer on liability issues.

@Jeff_DeMaagd thank you for your input and kind words…I’ve tried hard to think of everything I would want to see in a printer to make it more “professional” looking. I still have a few more ideas…but this is the one thing that eludes every maker…a fully finished project.
