So ive decided to replace my build tak but there is the adhesive stuck on there. I have just been peeling it off piece by piece.
I’m sure there is a faster way to do this, can any of you help?
Depending on the adhesive, should be able to use acetone or windex on it.
@Xenomorpheus thanks i think i have both of those so ill try them.
If you have access to a clothes steamer it will help release that really quick then you can scrape and wipe down the reside with acetone. I used one to remove the tint from the windows on my truck. No adhesive reside left afterwards.
大変だな、build takは・・・。
私は銅板とヘアスプレーを使っている。時にはスティック糊。お湯で洗い流せる。
@Derick_Thomas i can also try that. THANKS
@Spark_356 you could try a heat gun to get the adhesive to loosen up.
Should have heated the bed up to 220 first, probably still can and it should all pull off
The easyest way is to remove the bed and wash it out with acetone based solvent.
A heatgun with a scraper to peel it off, then use acetone to remove any remaining adhesive.
I think CNC Kitchen covered this on YouTube.
I use a product called Goo Gone
acetone !
Shellite is also amazing at removing/dissolving glue and isn’t as harsh as acetone.
I’ll give one warning though, a lot of these types of solvents are really BAD NEWS for some plastics. And they don’t always have to come into contact to do damage.
The fumes being near the plastic can be enough.
I’ve had a rag that has had a little shellite or acetone on it sitting on my workbench over night. The next morning a clear plastic case that had various screwdriver bits that was sitting about 30cm (12 inches) away from the rag went milky white and looked like it was shattered.
Also spilt a few drops of acetone on my phone screen years ago, wiped it off immediately, and after a week the screen touch stopped working as the fumes had got inside and had dissolved part of the connector glue.
The fumes of super glue are also great at screwing up gold/copper plated electrical connectors on plugs etc
A few expensive lessons haha
Just treat all solvents with care around electronics
@Martin_Dolan funny because your talking about putting the solvent on a GIANT ELECTRONIC😃
Soak it with WD-40, works like a charm!
Goo Gone and a scraper. Let sit for a while then scrape
