So I’ve harvested this little beauty and rather than just tossing it I thought I’d make something with it. I thought of perhaps creating a new base PCB for it with tiny LEDs behind each coil and make it into a little trinket or something. I dunno, just pondering. Anyone else want to toss out ideas? I actually have two of them right now, the other’s slightly smaller and with less coils.

Where did you harvest this from?? Depending on how high of an ac voltage you apply to this you should be able to get a pretty decent power unit (wireless power over a distance). Usually you find these in motors, like computer fans and what not
Out of old floppy drives out of old computers heading to the recycling center. This particular one is about 56mm in diameter, while the majority are 42mm. The drivers all work off of the 5V rail … not that I bothered harvesting any of those.
