So many months ago,

So many months ago, I asked around to find anyone using a 110V VFD with a watercooled spindle and if it was working well for them. There weren’t many replies, so I broke down the other month and ordered a 1.5kW 110V VFD. It showed up a couple days ago and is the exact same type we sell at work(only 220v) so programming it was a breeze. Also brought home an 800w watercooled spindle.
Let me just say this set-up rips through anything I throw at it, obviously as long as you use the right bit and feedrate and a sturdy machine. Not bad for $300?

Can we have a link? This looks awesome.

Of course!
Here’s the VFD I purchased from

Here’s the 800w watercooled spindle.

Hi, i had 220v 2,2kw water spindle running for 14 hours about 3 months with a hard work… the spindle are amazing! i don’t believe, with chinese bearing! now i have a 380v 4 kw giordano colombo spindle air cooler! but the old spindle have my respect!
xmas!

I have a VFD too

Do you have a speed-sensor mounted hat feedback the RPM to the VFD?

Happy to hear the 2.2 KW unit worked out so well. I purchased one for my next build, and was a little worried about its performance. Do the bits hold tightly in the ER collets? My wife has a hard time getting them tight with our current configuration (Harbor Freight Routers).

I am so happy I have switched to a watercooled spindle.
@Eric_De_Larwelle Oh ya they do hold onto the tool very tight. I had the same concern. And I know exactly what you mean on the collets from harbor freight routers.

I built a 4’ x 4’ Joe’s Cnc and used the 2.2K spindle water cooled setup. It’s awesome! I am still working on getting a better water delivery system (currently a jug of antifreeze with a water pump flowing it…) would like to do more of a pc water cooler setup for less mass and cleaner appearance

Moserlabs you can put a photo with pump of pc? what is the pump pc do you refer?
Peace!

@MoserLabs @Eugenio_Villaverde Same here, I’m just using a 5 gallon bucket with some water in it and a pump. I found this last night I’m gonna try out.

Heres the video I found those two products.

@Eugenio_Villaverde photo will be difficult, but I’ll give it a shot! It’s a jug of sports drink powder (empty) with a water fountain pump inside and clear tube adapted to fit… Gimme a sec I’ll upload a pic of it
