So my print is finished and pretty happy. Like some advice on improving this print.
that’s a really good looking print, dont think you could ask for much more .
I have to have a 3d printer. Thiz iz crazy.
Looks good to me!
When I’m going for ultimate print quality on the Mendel90 I adopt the following practices:
- Use a quality filament that gives a semi-gloss finish
- Slice with a single perimeter to prevent gaps in small features
- Print slowly at e.g. 20-25mm/s
Thanks , appreciate comments. Yip using Verbatim PLA 1.75 and printed with double skin at 0.2500 layer height. Speed I am sure it was abit higher. I think it came out well due to straight line printing
It looks pretty good, honestly. You’ve got a few small holes, but those can be filled with a variety of modeling compounds, and the occasional overshoot on corners and small features, but an x-acto knife can clear those up without too much trouble.
The only bigger issue is it looks like you may have had a little curling on the backside of that top fin. A little knife work can clean that up, but a g-code controlled fan may be helpful in trying to prevent that in the future.
All in all it’s a good print, though. With some minimal post processing it should be good to go for some primer and paint.
Thanks @Stephen_Baird Do you know what would cause the over shoot on the corners. Loose belts ?. Maybe need to do a service on the printer.
It looks great!
Usually overshooting is related to too much mass moving too quickly for the motors to stop on demand. If it were consistent I’d suspect loose belts or slack somewhere, but like this I’d guess it’s moving speeds.
I think it helps to show close-ups on what you’re concerned about because at a glance, it looks very good.
Once all the belts & pulleys have been secured, you might want to try lower jerk and/or lower accel speeds.
I see what looks like some Z wobble. I would look up whatever your model machine is and see if someone made a Z isolator. You get that because the Z screw is overly constrained and any warp in the z screws will distort the machine a little.
Thanks to everyone, I am going to look at all your recommendations and fine tune my Mendel90. I think my left threaded rod is maybe the problem with z wobble. Thanks again
