So the first mushroom I tried didnt work out very well. Now I am attempting to make a second one. First time I sanded with paper, today I tried sanding with a bosch tool. Unlike the dremel tool, which rotates and therefore smudges the pla because it ist getting too hot, this tool rather oscillates. Unfortunately it is too late for an in depth test, because my son has to sleep and the tool ist quite loud, but I could try at least for a few seconds and it looks like it will work out pretty good. The lower right side is sanded, the upper legt not. Bought the tool to make some woodwork, but if it fits an additional purpose I am more than happy. Will keep you updated.

maybe use acetone to smooth it, google it.

He said he was using pla.

Lower the layer height on the top. S3D 4.0 can do it easily. Go down to 0.1 ~ 0.06 mm layer height.

@Jeno_Bozoki would surely work to get that top a bit rounder, but I am short in time now. I need that part 6 times for a mario mushroom present on wednesday. These will so. But I’ll consider it for the next one.

S3D can create sections of the print, so you can go with high layer height, like 0.3 for most of the print, but decrease it down to 0.6 on the top 1 mm. On this way you don’t loose time.
