So this is now maybe a half step beyond proof of concept in that I’ve been able to make a successful print using the sprung bed leveling posts as end stops. My hardware is still very crude, the firmware I’m using is meant for the #printrbot Metal Simple (the Y axis is reversed) and I have yet to try it with the bed heated, but it’s working dammit. I’ll try to write it up soon, but I may wait until I’ve upgraded to more elegant/adjustable bed leveling posts (I’ve got some ideas) and done more testing. For now, just a video of the first successful test print (first layer).

Nice.

So now I’ve switched to an earlier version of the firmware that’s resolved the flipped Y axis problem and it is performing in a way that definitely encourages further exploration. Decidedly easier to get consistent first layers, that’s for sure.
