So this is what I managed to pull off for our holiday lights this

So this is what I managed to pull off for our holiday lights this year. I’ve learned that I either need a cherry picker or vastly improved upper body strength to haul the giant ladders around… or a husband who is even mildly supportive of my passion for this stuff (lol😔). A piecemeal display of static and animated lit up trees on our property. The 2 cypress flanking the door use 1000 ws2811 pixels running a version of Jason Coon’s Tree v.2 project with modified (and much sloppier) mapping. The tree in front features 5 strips of spliced 150 ws2812b LEDs running Andres Tuline’s Aalight demo sketch. The final tree at the back of the driveway is my purple rain Prince tribute which I must improve next year since I will never get over his loss. Merry merry merry.

Wow! Impressive display!

Thanks  I had your sketch running on a white tree in the guest bedroom window centered above the front door too but my daughter insisted it become her night light in her room at the back of the house. So now her room looks like a silent disco at the lowest possible brightness hahah

Very nice work. What kind of LEDs are you using for the purple rain?

Fantastic, it all looks amazing!

@Brian_Lewis they are just those “meteor shower” LED falling tube lights. I tinted the plastic tube with purple alcohol ink and sealed them with dishwasher safe modpodge- not the easiest or most efficient solution but it’s what I had on hand

@Charity_Stolarz Thanks. I had a feeling that’s what they were. I think they look really nice when they are hanging in trees like that.

@Charity_Stolarz i love the effect on the tree in the foreground. Mesmerizing.

Happy Holidays.
