So what causes this? Makerbot PLA, tried 230-240C, tried 66-100% extrusion multiplier, tried Blue tape and plain glass and hairspray.
Looks like it thinks your build surface is a little bit convex? Outer edges look too thin, inner section looks too thick.
Yeah, I’m starting to add to the Delta_Smooth_Rod…I tell ya, I’m getting sick of Delta Calibration.
looks like its losing contact with the print bed - what Anthony said
*losing
@Ashley_Webster with deltas, if your smooth rod calculation isn’t correct, while the printer thinks it’s moving in a flat plane, it’s actually moving in a convex or concave fashion. It’s a thing that applies to delta geometry and can become a hassle.
@Mike_Miller you may have some luck with the auto bed leveling probe setup that jhrocholl had featured on HackaDay - you don’t look like you have any auto bed leveling going on.
Yeah, looks like the z-height at the first layer is too high at least in the center. Basically what everyone else is saying.
I’d go with bare glass and set the z-height a bit lower in general and let it be too low on the edges (i.e. it’ll be smashing the plastic pretty much into the glass for the first couple of layres), but then it’ll at least be the right height in the center. When I set mine too low with PLA on bare heated borosilicate I get crazy adhesion that I have to scrape off with a blade (and once it took some glass with it).
I think FSR autolevel would fix this.
Just installed an auto level on my I2 along with a new bed. The auto level says my bed is only of by 1mm on the +X(right side) axis. But it still seems to print a little uneven.
After this new motor mount gets done I will intentionally add a 5mm tilt on the +X axis side of the bed and see if that helps. Sounds a little counter intuitive.
But yes auto leveling is awesome. Marlin is a pain to setup if your used to repetier host.
@ThantiK Yeah, I’m the auto leveller. I also suspect that the allthread rods add too much bend to the equation. I have the CF rods, I just never got around to using them. I’ll do that as an idle distraction while working on the Ingentis.
