So what is the best 3D printing firmware. There is lots of them. I have marlin now but i want to know should i change it. And i am also thinking of changing my hello bee prusa run on intel edison. That has the arduino uno GPIO connectors. That means i need to Extend my GPIO Any Firmware with I2C support or do i have to write the code my self.

Scrap the 8 Bit Ardiuno based board and opt for a 32 bit one. You won’t regret it. Duet Wifi or one of the Smoothie based boards. If you have a RAMPS, a Re-Arm is a good option.

Marin 32bit is under development.

@Panayiotis_Savva - aye, however, it’s a fair way off. Judging by the time it took to get Marlin 1.1 out it’s going to be a while until a full release.

Actually @Ax_Smith-Laffin , there is a great team that has grown in size and expertise. You won’t hold your breath too long, i promise

i would love to see it have support for intel boards too. Although i heard
there is one 3dprinter kickstarter that use’s edison. But i think they
retain the firmware for their own printers.
