Some comparison LW3 with LW4 engraving … Left is the LW3 photo.
Conversion in photograv ,50W laser same setting, laser diameter 0.24, 200mm/s, power 5ah, i didn’t tweak the filters in LW4 i don’t have any idea what they do.
Clearly you can see that was some lack of details in LW4 ,seems that the power level is different but i think and the power was the same the details is not there (in LW4). i have also included and the exact photo that i have engraved if anyone want to try it …maybe with better results.

It is probably the speed compensation of LW3, I have a really hard time getting photos to look spectacular now
Why was the speed compensation not included in LW4?
Speed compensation worsened the smoothie issues and lw.raster-to-gcode started out as a way to get Smoothie to work. If I remember right, lw.raster-to-gcode’s author was dead-set against adding speed compensation because he saw it as a hack. In reality, speed compensation is necessary because of the physics of wood.
