Some more parts arrived today,

Some more parts arrived today, so I was able to do a simple z-axis test using my drill.

For the electronics I plan to use:

Hello +Øyvind Amundsen, setup looks good. Can I ask your reasoning behind using that re-arm solution?

I have not tested a smoothie based controller before (I use RADDS for my 3D printers). I want a controller that supports Ethernet and have an active community/code updates… I find smoothie interesting with a lot of development going on + all my questions were answered within a short time. I did consider the original smoothieboard and some other smoothie based controllers, but I do not need integrated stepper drivers, support for heated-bed… so, that is why I find Re-Arm interesting combined with an dedicated CNC shield. But I guess most of the smoothie based boards would work fine. The Re-Arm CNC shield is not ready yet, so I do not have any details about it yet. I guess my problem is that I love to test new things…, so I tend to end up with the new unsafe and not the old and safe.

I`m going to buy this motor (x4)

In bipolar (parallel) mode for the best speed/torque combination.

In combination with a custom made 40V/12V/5V 400W linear power supply.

A small change when it comes to controller. I decided that I want a controller that is available now and supports more axis… so today I ordered the new Cohesion3D ReMix (http://cohesion3d.com/cohesion3d-remix/?mc_cid=6c70215d21&mc_eid=b8ed8b61a7) including adapters for external stepper drivers. I already have the ethernet adapter + RRD LCD.

I think Re-Arm + CNC shield would work as fine, but CNC shield is still in test .
