Somewhere someone had asked me for a few PCB strips of the custom ones I made for my POV sticks. a) I forgot who it was, b) I forgot where (whether it was this group or another), and c) I forget a lot … But, if you’re here, and you remember asking me for them, shoot me a message please. I just placed an order for new PCBs which I should receive in about a week to two. I think they were working on a bicycle POV design?
I wasn’t the original person, but I am interested in doodling around with one.
One, like one short strip of 24? (24 LEDs, 12 drivers, on a 144mm long PCB)
That sounds like a fun test rig for a POV. If I remember correctly, you are using LPD8806’s? Have you purchased the components yet?
Yep. Just waiting on PCBs to arrive. I’m going to assume you want them populated as they’re double sided and there are a few 0402 pieces on. Unless you’re a gluton for pain and want to hand solder those.
I don’t mind doing the work, tracking down components off of a schematic = hell
Nah, I already have all the pieces. Had the ICs and LEDs for a while. I just had to carve out some time to nail the small fixes on the PCB and send it out … which I did last week.
K, I’ll take one Kirchner POV Kit
Once I get the PCBs, I’ll populate and send you a bill.
You’ll have to send me an address …
I too would LOVE a set.
Ashley, if you send me a set, I would be glad to do a blog post & review about it and hopefully help build awareness for your project. I could send back to you when done or maybe purchase. Thx and talk soon!
Keep in mind I’m talking of just the PCB with LEDs and drivers, not the actual controller. For all intents and purposes, it’s a regular LPD8806 string. It’s just very tightly packed (1mm gap) on a rigid PCB.
