Spent some time making some fun upgrades to my Da Vinci 1.0. It now does dual band WiFi, has an available Ethernet port, and HD camera with a integrated raspberry pi running octopi!

The printer powers the pi, and I was able to get everything nearly installed with some decent attempt at cable management!

Yes, cake management is very important. Good job.

Love the bed leveling sticker righty titey lefty loosy.

Ah, cake… Cable too. I can’t stand auto correct. The stickers were to help me better understand the calibration numbers on the bed leveling test. I have since learned to use just a sheet of paper to level manually. Much faster and far less frustrating than waiting for the davinci to figure out its z probe. Pretty sure it isn’t that accurate to begin with.

I was at the davinchi distributor a few weeks ago at their launch. I managed to go the day before and corner their head technician he said the first time he had to calibrate it took him 2 days to get it right. I showed him how I do it manually as I start a print I could see the lightbulb in his head go on.

Thats cool. Wonder why the manual way seems so foreign at first. Ya, leveling that bed was one of the reasons I was planning on 86ing it and getting a Delta printer. Now, its not too terrible and I’ll probably wait for the holidays before I grab my rostock kit. I really want to start printing something other than abs.

Brilliant
