Standby Current Feature

Hey guys, I am working on a new CNC mill design and trying to decide on the right driver board. I really like everything I have read about the smoothieboard, but was wondering, with the digital current control, does the smoothieboard have the Standby Current feature? Gecko Drives have this feature where the current will be reduced to 50%-70% when the stepper is “idle”.

Hey.

We don’t have that feature.

You can send gcodes to disable the steppers ( which sets current to 0 ), or gcodes to set the current. But smoothie does not automatically change the current.

What’s the use for that ? I wouldn’t expect it to matter much on small 2A drivers like those that are on the smoothieboard itself.

Cheers.
