Still dialing in the BCN Sigma, but it puts out the best dual extrusion prints of any machine I’ve used.
Wow! That’s amazing. Does it take four times as long to print than a single color version of the same model?
4x as long? No. It’s not even twice as long. This print took 3:41. Single extrusion with same settings estimated 2:11
Those aren’t too bad for duration figures. Is the printing sequence as follows:
heat head one in a safe location (drip, ooze from nozzle)
print color one layers
cool head one in safe location
heat head two in safe location
print color two layers
cool head two in safe location
repeat until done
?
Close, but the nozzles stay hot for the duration. There’s no cooling/reheating.
that explains the short times. are there any problems with dripping or oozing from the non-printing color nozzle?
Each head has its own little “ooze box” with a rubber wiper on it. When the extruder homes, it wipes across the rubber wiper. If anything oozes while it’s parked, it gets wiped off when the head moves back into the print area. Any material falls into the removable boxes
